Today was a really exciting day! I picked up 50 copies of my recipe book that I designed while interning at Cultivating Community this summer. My work this summer involved photographing the Youth Grower and Grow Internship program, and the Boyd Street farm stand. The photographs and the youth’s weekly cooking were compiled into a recipe book that I designed and created. The book also includes interviews of the six Grow Interns and Youth Programs Manager, Anna Sommo. The book was given to all the youth and staff involved at Cultivating Community this summer.
The celebration was awesome, we watched a slideshow of images, showing the youth’s involvement this summer and ate delicious root vegetable enchilada lasgana that the youth prepared for the occasion. Everyone was so excited to have a book of recipes and photographs from spending a great summer working in their community. I got more excitement and smiles then I could ever have hoped for while working on this project. I’m so happy that I got to spend my summer at Cultivating Community.
